Overview of Funding / Application Information / Previous Moot Court Competitions
The Hauser Global Law School Program (HGLSP) offers financial support to assist the participation of J.D. and LL.M. students currently attending NYU School of Law in international moot court competitions for purposes that further the objectives of the HGLSP.
Objectives
The HGLSP strives to make available funds to support NYU School of Law students as they travel and compete in moot courts. Students' participation is intended to raise the profile of the Hauser Global Law School Program among those competing, administering and attending the moot courts, and in any publications resulting from the competition.
Eligibility
All J.D. and LL.M. students in good academic standing
are eligible to apply for international moot court funding. The students
must be enrolled at the Law School at the time of travel. Applicants need not be registered with the Student Bar Association. Funding applications are limited to one per J.D. or LL.M. student
per academic year. No applicants will be funded more than three times in
the course of their studies.
Funding Specifications
Available funding will be divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters. However, if circumstances arise where the review committee receives a large amount of excellent Fall semester applications, a greater percentage of funding may be allocated to the Fall budget. Funding will only cover expenses as detailed below:
Exclusions
Funding will not be provided by the HGLSP for:
Grantees' Obligations
All funding applications must be received and approved in advance of the event. Once students are informed of funding by the HGLSP, the following conditions apply in order to receive reimbursement:
In order to support our students in competions abroad, application must be made well in advance of the date of the competition. The application has many different requirements and it may take some time to assemble all materials for submission. Please read the guidelines below before application to the Hauser Global Law School Program.
Administration & Finances
All monies awarded to an international moot court team will be received after the competition as reimbursement for fees incurred during travel and competition, including per diem amounts. Therefore, all reimbursements will only be provided for fees with proof of purchase in the form of a receipt. No reimbursements will be issued for expenses without a receipt.
In an effort to simplify the application and reimbursement process, the Hauser Global Law School Program will require each team to elect a team administrator from among their teammates/coach that will maintain the team's communication with the HGLSP, and will manage finances while arranging for and participating in the competition. Prior to leaving for the competition, the team administrator is responsible for submitting the complete application and communicating with the HGLSP office. Upon return to the Law School, the team administrator will be responsible for submitting the Claims Form itemizing expenditures and for submitting receipts for each expenditure claimed. Once the report and receipts are submitted, a reimbursement check for the total amount of receipts will be issued to the team administrator. It is the responsibility of the team administrator to distribute the reimbursement among those who contributed receipts. Additionally, the team administrator will be responsible for submitting the team report of the event, and collecting and submitting digital photographs of the event to HGLSP.
In order for the team administrator to act on behalf of his or her teammates, each member must agree in writing to the appointment of the administrator. In this way, the Hauser Global Law School Program will be able to issue the single reimbursement to the team administrator even though receipts may not be in the administrator's name. Additionally, Social Security Numbers must be received from all United States citizens and permanent residents, as well as any international students who have had cause to obtain a Social Security Number. Please see the Application Information & Materials section below for the appropriate forms to be submitted at the time of application.
Passports & Visas
At the time of application, the Hauser Global Law School Program requires each team member, including United States citizens, to submit a photocopy of his or her passport. Any team member who is not a United States citizen must submit additionally a photocopy of his or her visa issued for entry to the United States as a student of the Law School.
Criteria for Selection
The criteria used to judge applications will include, but are not limited to the following:
Selection Process
All applications must be submitted to Fiona Kennedy, Director of Academic Programs, Hauser Global Law School Program. The review committee will carefully review all applications and inform those selected in a timely manner. The review committee may ask to meet short-listed candidates.

will be reviewed under a rolling
decision policy where
successful applications will be awarded as decisions are made with no guarantee of funds availability late in the semester. Please note that the HGLSP will attempt to award the same total amount of money each semester. It is in the team's best interest to apply as early as possible.
