Criteria for Selection
The number of students who may be sent to each of the law school exchange programs is limited by agreement with the exchange partner and in some cases by ABA rules. Thus, the law school may receive more applications for a particular program than can be accommodated.

Approval and selection for study abroad programs will be based on a proposed plan of study and consideration, inter alia, of the following factors:

• The academic or professional reasons stated for the particular study abroad program;
• The extent to which the plan fits in with your overall academic and/or professional objectives, including courses already taken;
• Whether you intend to do substantial independent research while abroad, and whether you have identified a supervisor for a paper (at the host institution or at NYU);
• Whether you plan to coordinate the proposed program with work or research during the preceding or following summer.
• Your academic plans upon returning to NYU;
• Your facility with and efforts to learn the language of the host country;
• Please note, additional consideration will be given to all students entering their third year;

Personal reasons alone will not qualify you for an exchange program abroad.  You should develop your study plan based on the course offerings for the current year as well as any strengths you see in the program's curriculum, and how those strengths may fit into your own curricular planning.

Deferrals
Because places are limited, deferrals of acceptance are not ordinarily permitted. Students declining selection must re-apply.

Application Materials & Deadline
Please download the application in PDF format, print it, complete it, and return it to the Hauser Global Law School Program office. Among other information on the application form, you must:

• Submit an unofficial law school transcript,
• A current CV/resume;
• A 500-word plan of study for each program ranked on your application, addressing the points in the "Criteria for Selection" section above.

Applications, including all required materials, must be received by the Hauser Global Law School program by Monday, January 21, 2008.
