Arthur T. Vanderbilt and Hugo Grotius Scholars; Bashir Mallal and David Marshall Scholars
Each year the Committee on Graduate Admissions awards a limited number of Hugo Grotius Scholarships and Arthur T. Vanderbilt Scholarships to those who will study in New York City, and David Marshall and Bashir Mallal Scholarships to those who will enroll in NYU@NUS. These scholarships are full-tuition awards and are awarded to outstanding candidates for LL.M. degree studies. These merit-based awards are given to a select group of extraordinarily talented LL.M. candidates who have demonstrated academic promise and/or achievement in their respective field(s) of interest. The Grotius Scholarships are designated for students who wish to specialize in International Legal Studies in New York City, and the Marshall Scholarships are for students who concentrate in Justice and Human Rights in NYU@NUS. Vanderbilt and Mallal Scholarships are awarded to students in all other graduate LL.M. specializations. For more information on application to the Graduate Division please visit the Office of Graduate Admissions' Web site.
These scholarship are not just a sum of money; they are a lifelong credential, and an entire program has been built around them. Modeled after our innovative Hauser Global Scholars Program, these scholarship programs provide scholars with unique opportunities to participate in special workshops, for example, the Vanderbilt Speaker Series initiated with an eye toward professional development. Luncheons and social activities, as well as receiving personalized attention from the faculty are all integral to the award.
Additionally, the Committee on Graduate Admissions previously awarded the full-tuition Hans Kelsen Scholarship to admitted students who received their first law degree from a German-speaking jurisdiction (such as Austria, Germany, and Switzerland). These scholars were integrated into Vanderbilt and Grotius Scholarship programs.
