Colloquium on Innovation Policy
The Colloquium on Innovation Policy focuses each year on topics dealing
with promoting innovation in the economy. Topics for discussion in the Colloquium
have included the law and economics of competition in the creative industries,
incentive structures, innovation in developing economies, international
issues in innovation policy, and issues raised by advances in telecommunications.
In 2004, we will look at issues surrounding the changing creative environment,
including topics involving digital production and distribution. The Colloquium
has two components. One is a scholarly papers component, with outside speakers
who are invited in to discuss papers on issues relevant to the topic of
the Colloquium. The other is a seminar component, where we critique course
materials relevant to the colloquium, including the papers presented by
the outside speakers. The Colloquium also provides each student with the
opportunity to write and present an independent research paper.
